Extra work day in the park

The steps are somewhere under this layer of ice. Good thing we aren’t carrying heavy equipment….

Well this is where we need to get into for the Lake Lodge, so that isn’t going to happen today.

Headed home after four days. This is Lake Hotel.

Stopped to stretch my legs at this spot. A lot of ducks and a few swans.

Park work day three – grizzly bear

On the way over to Lake in an area still closed to the public we rounded a corner and a grizzly bear was in the road. it ran up the hill and into the woods before I could get a picture. He is behind the trees in this picture, but you can see his tracks going into the woods.

The snow drift looks like ocean waves.

redrum…redrum…

Working in hotels with no power can be a little off putting at times.

I feel the urge to run across the frozen lake to the island in the middle.

Mercy sakes alive, looks like we’ve got us a convoy

Going out to do setup work in the park. Can’t go through the park without 4WD so we have a convoy of three vans and two cars going up and down. Going into Yellowstone from West Yellowstone. Will be staying in the park until Thursday with a goal of getting Old Faithful Inn, Old Faithful Lodge, Snow Lodge, Lake Hotel and Lake Lodge setup.

Fist time I have seen snow being cut up with a lumberjack saw.

Odd seeing Snow Lodge with no people.

All my pets

It is hard to get my pet camel to let me change her flea collar.

The boys are resting up so they can get a full night of flopping around on the bed and Leviticus putting his paw in my mouth.

After getting rested up Leviticus can resume being Ms. Kravitz.

Time to fix the door

First I have to take the door apart. Didn’t realize that I also had to remove the airbag from the door. Was very careful doing that.

Have to get the old locking mechanism one out and the new one in. The black tip with the ball joint is just supposed to pop on. Well after about an hour of messing with it I figure out that the replacement one and the original are not the same size. I had to take the old and new one apart and swap some of the parts to make it work.

All of this had to happen through this opening into the door as I didn’t want to take the vapor barrier off and have to get yet another part.

All back on and the door lock works!

But not a complete success. I ended up striping the left side of the handle connector. I have to open the door with more pressure where the key goes or the left side will pop out. Not happy about this, but I can now open the driver side door and the locks work again.

Friday The 13th

My very own grumpy cat.

The sun is trying to come out.

Well I have had a buffalo jam in a lot of places, but this is a first on the hill headed to the house. Interesting navigating by them in scooter car.

Up for a game of cat and mouse?

Heading out to Madison Camp Ground

While winter is fading at the house, it hasn’t let go in the park. We have to go out with the Bull Crew so we have people that know what they are doing with bad travel so they can help us if needed.

This house is where we were working setting up a network and connecting PCs.

The snow ended for the ride back to the office.

Back at the office the snow is almost gone as well. Just have to watch out for this guy while walking around.
