Cross Country Ski Lesson

Janet and I went to church. It was a good message and everyone wanted to meet Janet. I did embarrass her a little bit when the pastor asked if we had any new people and I introduced her.  Janet was offered a spot on a mountain lion photo search on Monday.

We went home and got ready for our cross country ski lesson. It was a lot of fun. I was on the ground more than Janet. Andrew our instructor was really good at explaining things. I had a really hard time stopping, which is why I was on the ground more.

OK, done with the sappy stuff. Janet is here.

Picked up Janet at the airport. She had Leviticus in tow. We made a quick stop and then on our way to Gardiner. Janet got to see a full winter storm. Coming over the Bozeman Pass it literately was a blizzard.  The snow was blowing sideways due to the strong winds and visibility was almost zero. I hugged the right side and drove about 10-15 miles an hour. To give you an idea how bad it was I followed the right side off an exit and didn’t know we had left the interstate until I saw the stop sign. Had to get back on the interstate. Saw multiple cars in the ditch. It was bad. It took 3 hours to get home when it should have been an hour and a half.

Janet is here!!!!

Did see a few elk on the way to Bozeman.

Well today is the day!

Been cleaning the house and getting ready for Janet’s arrival. I can’t wait! On the way to drop off the trash today I saw something different. The wind was blowing so hard that it was creating what looked like dust storms, but with the snow. It was really wild looking.

Well off to the big city to do some shopping before I pickup the love of my life!

T-1 until Janet touches down in Montana

I had a bad day at work. I had someone send me a very disrespectful email. The Lord had to help me to not lash back at them. Good thing I had been to my men’s prayer breakfast and we had talked about having faith in bad times. I stood my ground, but in a respectful way.

I want to end the week  of song dedications with Come Monday. One reason is because this coming Monday I will be able to hold Janet. The other reason is just for Janet.

More snow and wolverine discussion | T-2 Days until Janet arrives!

Getting more snow today. Tonight I went to a discussion on wolverines. I learned a lot about them. Very interesting and tough animals.

This is what it looked like as I left the house this morning. The low clouds were very cool looking.

This is what it looked like at work.

This is American Top 40 I’m Casey Kasem. Now we are up to our long distance dedication and it is from a man with no sunshine in his life. While the cold and snow can have a beauty all to it’s self. This letter is from a snowman who is ready to see the sun. The letter begins, “Dear Casey,  I always wished for snow any time it might happen where I was. Now I am surrounded by snow each day. It is beautiful, but to quote someone else “only miss the sun when it starts to snow”. I have moments of excitement and joy and I immediately think of sharing them with Janet. This creates an incompleteness inside of me. It causes me to not be able to hold them. They float away like the snow floats downs. I need Janet to complete me and allow my soul to hold onto the beauty around me. As the time is getting closer to her arriving it seems to be getting harder to wait. On this T-2 day will you play A Picture of Me (Without You) signed Dillard”

Dillard here’s your long distance dedication.

T-3 Days until I see Janet!

This is American Top 40 I’m Casey Kasem. Now we are up to our long distance dedication and it is from a tired telephone man. It’s from a lonely guy who is ready to see his sweetie in person. The letter begins, “Dear Casey, while it is wonderful to speak with my wife each day, I would really love to see her and hold her tight in my arms. The anticipation is killing me and it makes me think about all the times I have picked her up at the airport. The buildup you have looking at everyone coming out. Is that her, no. Is that her, no. Then that moment when you lock eyes and you know it is her.  When that happens I have this feeling of completeness and happiness. Sometimes it can be an over whelming feeling. On this T-3 day will you play So Far Away signed Dillard”

Dillard here’s your long distance dedication with a 80’s headband bonus.

Heading out in the park

Today I am going to Grant Village. Leaving at 8:00 am and it will take until about 11:00 to get there so it will be an all day thing. I am dressed warmly and I have a lunched packed.

This is what we are rolling out in.

We traveled for about an hour and 46 minutes and one of the tracks blows out. Radio in for mechanic and find that they don’t have the parts at Old Faithful which is where we are close to, so they will have to come from Gardiner. That means they are two hours a way coming in on the snow cat.

The trip to Grant Village is now a no go. Start checking for a ride for me back. A snow coach will pick me up in about 30 minutes. This is what I hitched a ride back on.

Made it back at about 11:30.

The views were gorgeous and the curves were treacherous. Snow pack covered the guard rails.

Back in the office I had a bison parade.
